She was predeceased by her parents William Wendland Schnitzler and Rosalla Margaret Hegel; parents-in-law Robert and Jane Ellis; sister Francis Miller; brother Raymond Schnitzler; brothers-in-law Wilfred (Bing) Miller and Ned Sander; sisters-in-law Ida Schnitzler and Frances Schnitzler; son-in-law Jim Craik; and her husband of 55 years, William Reginald (Reg) Ellis. Caroline was born in Sunnyvale, California, USA on Nov 4, 1925. She attended school in Robin Hood, SK and Allan, SK. She helped her dad and mom around their home and farm. Part of her work was in the fields, stoking and helping with the harvest. She took a sewing course and this led to her love of quilting and sewing. Caroline married William Reginald (Reg) Ellis on July 9, 1946 at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Allan where her parents were the first couple to be married in the newly built Church.   As newlyweds they made their home on the Ellis farm in the Allan Hills, SK. In 1954, Reg and Caroline completed building the family home in Allan where all the kids grew up, and Caroline resided until 2012. Her first child was a male still born. They had 3 more children following. They built a house in Allan in 1954 and their children went to school there. Caroline helped Reg on the farm - making use of the many skills she learned from her father and mother. She tended to the chickens and animals in Allan that they raised before the animals went to the farm. She always had a large garden and would spend countless hours baking buns, bread and treats for her family and friends. She also spent much time preserving her fruits and vegetables from the garden. She loved cooking and baking. If anyone would stop by for a visit, you would hear her asking “Are you hungry?”, “What can I get you?” She was known for always having baked goods in the kitchen ready for others to enjoy. Caroline belonged to the Allan Catholic Women’s League for many years and helped with Church activities when she could. In July 2012 she moved into a senior’s apartment complex in Saskatoon. Her apartment had a great view of the city lights which gave her many hours of pleasure. Two years ago she moved into Baraka Care Home in Sutherland, Saskatoon until her recent hospitalization. The family wishes to thank all the care staff at Baraka Care Home and St. Paul’s Hospital for their loving care of Caroline. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation (1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9) or to a charity of your choice. The Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church at in Allan, SK lead by Rev. Mr. William Schnitzler (Caroline’s brother).
