It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lil at home with her family by her side. Lil is loved and remembered by her daughter Debbie Tamke (Bob); son Ken Tamke (Helene); grandchildren Lindsay Reynolds (Jeremy), Allison (Scott) Ziemer, Jeanine Tamke (Ben), Lauren Tamke; great-grandchildren Kai, Riley, Ty, Jaxon, Miles; son-in-law Brian Russell; sister Evelyn; brothers Elvin (Margaret) Walter, George (Winnie) Walter; in-laws Doreen Walter, Irene Walter, Joyce Walter, Margaret Schmirler, Edna Matthews; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Reynolds; husband Gordon Tamke; her parents Jakob and Marie Walter; and ten of her siblings. Lil was born in Saskatoon, the 6th youngest in a family of 14. On October 18, 1945 she married Gordon Tamke. They lived in Saskatoon before moving to several cities in western Canada with Gordon’s job. They returned in 1975 to Saskatoon to their farm on Lorne Ave. In 1992 they moved to Chalet Gardens and Lil remained there until her passing. She enjoyed socializing with her family and friends and kept everyone connected by hosting and organizing many events. She had a strong faith in God and deep devotion to her family. Lil was widely known for her sense of humour and for her giving and caring spirit. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre (20 Campus Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4H4) or to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in her memory. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of her extended family and friends who provided support during her illness, as well as the CPAS staff who cared for our Mom in her final days. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church (1405 – 31st St. W.) in Saskatoon. The Interment will take place at Haultain Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200
