Jack Ferwerda

April 10, 2018

Ferwerda, Jack (Jacobus Johannes)

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jack on April 10, 2018, at

home, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Regina on February 9, 1955 along with his twin sister, Anna. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Archbishop O’Neill High School. Jack loved people and worked successfully for many years in the retail grocery business, moving with his family to Saskatoon in 2002. Wanting to spend more time with family, he started working with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club, opening Saskatoon’s first Rider Store on 8th Street. He was thrilled to be a part of the “team” and felt that these last 8 years were his most enjoyable! Jack’s priorities in life were his faith, family, friends, and career and always believed in giving back to the community and volunteering where he felt he was needed. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Jack and Peggy, his dear brother, Patrick, Uncle Joe and Aunt Hortense Ferwerda, father-in-law, Joe Zasada, sister-in-law, Monica Zasada and brother-in-law, Tony Zasada. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Eleanor, his children, Jack Paul (Michelle), Sarah, and Anthony, and grandson, Jack George, sisters Anna Kristoff (Brian), Maria Coupal and Teresa Ferwerda and their loving families. Also, Jack Paul’s mother (Cathy), special cousins Shirley Laurens and Douglas Ferwerda and their families in the Netherlands and the entire Zasada Family. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon, with Rev. Fr. Darryl Millette as Celebrant. The Rite of Committal will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
