Josephine Sarich

Josephine Sarich of Saskatoon passed away after a short battle with cancer on Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Paul’s Hospital. Jo was born on May 19th, 1931 in Broadview, SK to Andrew and Rose (nee Kozy) Charnish. She married Daniel Sarich in 1961 and they raised three wonderful daughters. Jo was immensely proud of and dedicated to her family. Besides working full time, Jo believed in the gift of giving. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Women’s League and served as its President for many years. After her retirement she continued the gift of giving by volunteering at the CWL Clothing Depot, the Red Cross, Friendship Inn and for Canadian Blood Services. Her involvement with CBS led to blood donations which benefited so many more. She will be remembered as a thoughtful, caring, generous, and empathetic mother and grandmother who saw the best in people. She was an eternal optimist with a good sense of humour. She treasured her time living at Liberty Court and the many friendships she made there. She enthusiastically participated in fitness classes, card games, and potlucks at Liberty Court. Jo travelled extensively all over the world and was always ready for a new adventure. Her daughters remember her as a wonderful and easygoing travel companion. She is survived by her daughters Lois (François) Eibl, Nancy (Shayne) Ferguson, and Sheila (Mark) Tracey; and grandchildren Jenna, Ireland, Ronan, Elise, Teagan, Abbey, and Waverly; brothers George (Judy) Czernys, Tony Charnish (Gail Gravelle); sisters-in-law Nora Sarich, Margaret (Matt) Tomyn, Katie (John) Sekulich, Agnes Sarich, Margaret McHale, Josie Charnish; brother-in-law Ray Young; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
