Marlene passed away peacefully the evening of March 18, 2018 at Porteous Lodge with her family by her side at the age of 83. Born in Young, SK and raised in Amazon and Watrous, some of Marlene’s fondest memories were of Manitou Beach in her younger years. Married at the age of 17 to Elmer, mom and dad lived in many different communities in Saskatchewan, the dearest to her heart were the friendships formed in Duperow, Elfros, Hanley and then Dundurn where she lived with her companion Chuck Williams for many years. Marlene and Chuck then moved to Saskatoon where she resided until her passing. Most important in Marlene’s life was her family, all her children and spouses, step-children and spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than a visit from family members. We will miss her love, honesty and sense of humor. Our family would like to thank the staff at Porteous Lodge for caring for mom over the past year. Marlene is loved and remembered by her children Raelene (Lew) Neher and Scott (Debra) Ginther; 2 daughters-in-law Karen Ginther and Jodine Rodway; step-children Lorna McPhee (Keith), Dwayne (Donna) Williams, Deborah (Don) Suttie, Barry (Jessie) Williams, Vern (Lorraine) Williams, Lyle (Carrie) Williams and Kim Dietz; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister B.A. (Pete) Munro; sister-in-law Anne Mackenzie; and brother-in-law Bud O’Connor. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, son Kim Ginther, daughter Shelley Pocock, son Dan Ginther; husband Elmer Ginther; companion Chuck Williams; parents Colin and Jessie MacKenzie; brothers Doug MacKenzie, Don MacKenzie, Bruce MacKenzie; and sister Joan O’Connor. Memorial donations may be made to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (#1 - 345 - 3rd Ave. S., Saskatoon, SK S7K 1M6). A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Knox United Church (838 Spadina Cres. E.) in Saskatoon.
