Thomas "Greg" KarasNovember 23, 2017
The family of Thomas “Greg” Karas is heartbroken to announce his sudden passing at home in the evening of Thursday, November 23, 2017. Greg was born on January 21, 1950 in Toronto, ON. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Schoeck, his two children, Nadya (Tom) and Thomas, and grandson David. He is also survived by his father Tom (Ivy), and younger siblings Danny, Sheri, Laurie-Anne, Randy, Dave, and Scott, and their spouses and children. In recent years he was especially pleased to finally connect with his first son, Jerrod. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Marion and John Dupuis, and two brothers.
Greg was an avid hunter and fisherman. His pride and joy, however, was his family. He and Jenny spent all of their years together in northern and western Canada with fond memories of each place they lived. Greg was so proud to see Nadya graduate from her nursing program this year. Thomas, from an early age, shared his love of the outdoors, and is a proficient hunter and fisherman as well. In recent years, Greg was delighted to be a grandfather, and he and Jenny spent many wonderful hours with little David. He was so happy to be able to visit his father and Ivy, and Dave, Brenda and family in Ontario last summer.
His family is grateful for the excellent medical care he received from Dr Stakiw, Amanda, the staff of RUH 6100 and the Cancer Centre, Dr Sperling, and the DCF homecare team. As well, we are deeply grateful to Dundurn First Responders, MD Ambulance, and Elizabeth and Scott (RCMP). In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Myeloma Canada, Right to Play, Ducks Unlimited, or another charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 pm, at the Community Hall in Dundurn (214 3rd St). Arrangements in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
