HAZEL HELEN NESS NIELSEN ROBERTS
Hazel passed away April 13th, 2012 at the age of 71 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Colleen (Stacy) Anweiler, Boyd Roberts and Kirk Roberts; mother, Evelyn Nielsen; sisters, Fredell Eastcott, Marianne (Raymond) Yee; brother, Eric Nielsen; and mother-in-law, Mable Roberts. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew (Wesla), Meagan (Geoff), Jonathan and Brittany; and great grandchildren, McKenzie, Carmen and Whitlee. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Jim; her dad, Mogens Nielsen; brother, Kenny; and brother-in-law, Merle Eastcott. Hazel is also predeceased by her father, Fred Ness, who passed away when she was 1 1/2 years old. Hazel was born at the Lady Grey Hospital in Nipawin, SK on June 19th, 1940. She graduated from NCHS in 1958 and moved to Saskatoon. She was employed by the Hudson's Bay Co. in the accounting department until 1967. She met her husband, Jim Roberts, and they married in 1966. She tried to stay at home and raise her family as much as possible, working outside the home when necessary. Hazel decided on working with Oliver Lodge in the dietary department. She was employed there for 25 years, retiring in 2006. Hazel became very ill in 2011 and, even though her retirement was very short, she treasured the extra time she had with all her family by not having to go to work every day. She especially enjoyed the extra visits with her Mom. It never mattered how difficult things were for Hazel; she always managed a brave and happy face and was up to a good laugh. Hazel was always available to help her family and friends when it was she who actually needed the help. Even during her painful struggle with cancer, her love, affection and passion for others never faded. Hazel touched the hearts of so many people and her love and devotion will always be remembered. The family wish to express our most heartfelt gratitude to our friends and neighbours for their kindness and concern during the illness and passing of our loved one. Special thanks to each and every one of her caregivers that provided the love and compassion she so desperately required. Your kind thoughts, gestures and prayers are deeply appreciated. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Chapel 704 Windsor Street (corner of 8th Avenue N and Windsor Street). Memorial register can be signed at www.mourningglory.ca. Arrangements in care of Sue Panattoni, MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
