Harvey passed away peacefully Friday, May 4th at his home overlooking southeastern Saskatoon. Harvey was born January 29th, 1928 at Bethany, MB.  He was a resident of Minnedosa, MB until 1964; Wynyard, SK, 1964-1974; and Saskatoon, SK from 1974-2012. Harvey served in the Royal Canadian Navy just after WWII, and he was a long time CPR conductor based in Calgary, AB, Minnedosa, MB, Wynyard, SK and Saskatoon, SK, retiring in 1986.  Harvey had also been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a talented carpenter, photographer and artist.  In his retirement, Harvey enjoyed travelling the world, painting railway and bridge scenes, making toy furniture for his grandchildren, making model airplanes and sailing ships, and maintaining the "country club" in their backyard, which was enjoyed by hundreds of family and friends over the years.  Harvey was an enthusiastic bagpipes fan, and many family milestones were commemorated by a piper. Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Ellen; daughter, Karen (Eric) Olafson; sons, David (Stella) Ross, Douglas (Pamela) Ross, and Murray (Susan) Ross; grandchildren, Marea (Brad Knight) Olafson, Stefan (Karen) Olafson, Jessica Ross, Bailey Ross, Tanner Ross, Connor Ross, Colin Ross; great grandchildren, Avery Olafson, Jayden Olafson, Freyja Knight, Ebba Knight; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Ross.  Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Jessie Ross (nee MacDonald), and Harry Humphrey Ross; brothers, Harold Ross, Donald "Boone" Ross; and sister, Norma (Walter) Kenway.  Cremation has taken place, and interment will take place in Minnedosa, MB at a later date.  Harvey's family thanks the Saskatoon Health Region Palliative Care Services for fulfilling his wish to end his time at home in peace and dignity.  The family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Diabetes Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.  Arrangements in care of Matthew Kozak - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200)

We got the news of Harvey's passing, and were very sorry to hear that. He and Ellen were always so great about having us "kids" hang around their place when we went to high school -- even to having a gaggle of us, hung-over and hungry -- there for breakfast the morning after grad. He and Ellen raised great children, and I have no doubt he will be missed my many.
