Andrew Johnston

September 29, 2019

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, boyfriend, and friend Andrew Graham Johnston (A.J.).

Andrew was born on November 3, 1988 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, and passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 29, 2019 of a brain aneurysm.  He grew up in Prince Albert and Saskatoon, SK.  Andrew started his schooling in Prince Albert and graduated high school from E.D. Feehan in Saskatoon.  He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

Andrew was always an avid sports fan, and he played hockey, lacrosse, basketball, golf, and slo-pitch.  He was a passionate fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Philadelphia Eagles.  He loved fishing and spending time wherever his family was.  He especially enjoyed playing slo-pitch with his girlfriend Courtney Kidd by his side.  They were inseparable.

Andrew worked at A&W, STAR Produce, Elkridge Resort, Toys R Us, and Riverside Golf and Country Club.  After university Andrew was employed at SaskEnergy, beginning as a Labourer Shipper Receiver and then training to be a Service Technician, of which he was extremely proud.

Andrew’s life revolved around his large, loving family and circle of friends.  Andrew was predeceased by his grandma Olga Johnston, uncle Bruce Beskal, Bill and Helen Kostiuk, and his stepdad Darin Nelson.  Andrew is survived by his dad and stepmom Warren Johnston and Lisa Parlee; his mom and stepdad Shelly and Larry Kostiuk; his brothers James Johnston (Jalisa Gonie) and Cody Nelson; his sisters Elise Nelson (Sam Claude), Jennifer (Mark) Herbert, Jessica (Travis) Fehr, and Mallory (James) Zakrewski; his girlfriend Courtney Kidd; his grandparents Ernie Johnston, Dave and Wendy Beskal; his cat Loki; and Courtney’s dog Sasha; his five nieces and one nephew, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Andrew had a motto that he lived by:  Collect some stars to shine for you.  Andrew was taken from us far too early.  His passing leaves a huge hole in our lives.
