Armand Labrecque

LABRECQUE, Armand Ernest

Armand passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born on November 21, 1931 on the family farm near St. Denis, SK and resided there for 80 years. Armand enjoyed the outdoors – farming, golfing and camping, as well as most seasonal activities. In the winter months he was an avid curler, bowler and card player. He always took time for family and friends. He was a kind and loving man with a generous and gentle heart. He was a passionate host; didn’t miss many occasions to have people over. Armand was married to the love of his life for 61 years. Together they had 5 boys. His love for family extended to all of his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and to those who weren’t even related. He sold the family farm to his nephews and moved to Saskatoon. His passion for farming never left him and lured him back as he went on to continue contributing alongside his nephews for several more years. Armand was a very community minded man; as a devoted parishioner, he was active in the parish council, cemetery and caring for the property and grounds. He donated his time and energy towards several community improvement projects. He built a large cross out of steel for the cemetery and also assisted with the stone entrance and gate. They will remain there in his honour. He will be sadly missed but these creations of love will last forever. Armand is lovingly remembered by his wife Germaine; children Guy, Ron (Julie), Ken (Sonia) and Ray; grandchildren Daniel, Remi (Valentine), Robert, Chantal (Jonathan), Pierre, Flora, Matthew, Nicholas and Eric; great-grandchildren Penelope, Jerome, Mateo and Kai; sisters Evelyn Denis and Vivianne (Dave) Tindall; in-laws Monique Benard, Dorothy Benard, Aline Benard, Angie Gauthier, Edna Unruh, Irene (Ray) Lepage, Muriel (Byron) Hill, Mary Benard, Doris Downs, Denis (Anita) Benard, Gerald (Darlene) Benard and Marilyn (Murray) McArthur. He was predeceased by his son in childhood, Robert; parents Joseph and Delia; brothers Wilfred (Suzanne, Eva); sisters Irene (Philippe) Rivard and Rose (Howard) Elasz; and brothers-in-law Paul Denis, Norman, Rene, Raymond, Leopold and Adrian Benard. The Vigil for Armand will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at St. Denis Parish in St. Denis, SK. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8 at Sts. Martyrs Canadiens Parish (1007 Windsor St.) in Saskatoon. A Private Family Committal will be held on Sunday, June 9 at St. Denis Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency or to St. Denis Parish Cemetery. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
