Obituary

Leclerc, Conrad Georges

August 19, 1932 – November 13, 2019

Conrad Georges Leclerc passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  Conrad was the eldest child of Joseph Léon Leclerc and Marie Adrienne Jamont and was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan.  Conrad completed high school at Campion College in Regina and studied Arts and Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan.  It was during his time at the University of Saskatchewan that Conrad met his beloved wife, Alma Theresa Leclerc (Bley), at a Valentine’s Day dance at St. Paul’s Hospital, where she was a student nurse.

Conrad enjoyed a long career with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation that took him to several cities across Canada including Winnipeg, Ottawa, Fredericton, Sudbury and Saskatoon.  He subsequently did financial consulting work until retirement.  He also served on the board of directors of St Thomas More College at the University of Saskatchewan.

After retirement, Conrad and Alma enjoyed many years of adventure, travelling abroad, studying Spanish in Mexico, visiting friends and family and enjoying many trips with their motorhome.  Conrad enjoyed reading several newspapers every morning and meeting friends daily for coffee, conversation and debate which he continued until shortly before his passing.

Conrad was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Alma Leclerc; his parents, Joseph and Marie Leclerc; sisters in-law Beth Paulsen (Paul), Louise Edmondson (Paul), Margaret Edwards (Tom) and Rose LaPierre (Lucien); and brothers in-law Albert Bley (Donna), Carl Bley (Ethel) and Frank Schweiger.   He is survived by his sister, Huguette Schweiger; brother in-law Victor (Anne) Bley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon) on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association. We are especially grateful for the kindness and compassion expressed to Conrad by Lynn Durette over the course of the last several months.  Arrangements in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306-978-5200).
