Welcome to the memorial page for

Daniel Gillis

September 30, 2017

Daniel (Dan) Harvey Gillis, 69, of Saskatoon, SK, regrettably lost his three-month long battle with cancer on September 30, 2017. After spending his last days with those most important to him, Dan’s spirit was finally set free with his loving partner by his side.  He is survived by his partner in life, Coreen Franke; daughters Sara Anderson, Lora McNeil and Carla Apostoli; brother Larry Gillis; and nephew Brad Gillis. Dan was a Renaissance Man of sorts – a singer, a photographer, a writer, an athlete, an Oldsmobile man.  He most appreciated life’s simplest gifts such as a leisurely hour spent at a coffee shop on a lazy afternoon, sipping a good single malt scotch, playing his guitar and singing to no one but the cat, and just being down by the water.  Dan’s greatest passion was playing soccer and enjoying drinks and laughs with his team mates and friends, and many will remember him for his extraordinary skill as a striker, his sportsmanship, and his friendship on the soccer field.  Dan’s warmth, kind and gentle demeanor, wry sense of humor, and special ability to make all those who met him feel instantly at ease will be missed.  As per Dan’s wishes, a private memorial gathering to celebrate his life and scattering of ashes will be held in the Spring.  At Dan’s Request no Funeral Service will be held.  Everyone who remembers Dan can celebrate his life in their own way – raise a glass of your favorite drink, score a goal, cheer for Liverpool, or dip your toes in the lake.  Arrangements are in care of Chelsea Krentz – MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306) 978-5200.
