Dennis Leonhardt

November 8, 2018

May 29, 1949 – November 8, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a beloved father and grandfather at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 69. Left to mourn are his children, grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Dennis was born in Yorkton and was raised in Churchbridge until his adult years, moving to Saskatoon and then to Abbotsford in the 1980’s. After the passing of his wife Myrna, Dennis moved back to Saskatoon and spent his last six months enjoying time with his Saskatchewan family and friends. Dennis began his career as a long haul transport truck driver in 1968 and drove until an accident in 2005 forced his retirement. He continued his passion for the road as a pilot truck operator with Myrna from 2008-2017. Dennis and Myrna shared many adventures with the United Motorcycle Club International, British Columbia branch for over thirty years, travelling with friends across Canada, up the Alaska Highway, and through the United States. They also enjoyed entertaining at their home and generously held many celebrations. Dennis was a talented woodworker, creating a variety of memorable projects, excelling in intarsia. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and was very proud of their every accomplishment. Dennis was a great story teller and had an endless supply of tales from his likely million miles spent on the road. Dennis was predeceased by his sister Dianne in 2018, his wife Myrna in 2017, his mother Lilly in 2011 and his father Ernest in 2000. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63, 606 Spadina Crescent, Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, condolences may be left for the family at Cremation arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
