Obituary

PETERSON, Donald

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Don Peterson on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Don was born on June 24, 1928. He was adopted by John and Johanne Peterson. Don is survived by his loving wife Bernice. They just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on September 2, 2019. He is also survived by his 5 children Donna Gowin (Bob), Rick Peterson (Joan), Shirley (Al) Boyer, Terry and Kenny (Jasmine); 4 grandchildren Tammy Leach, Tina Smith, Ashley and Wade Boyer; 4 great-grandchildren Riley and Braydon Leach and Chaise and Carter Smith. Dad worked for the CN when it was located at the exhibition area for 9 years.  Starting in 1961 in the water works department (City of Saskatoon) until his retirement in 1988. Mom and Dad loved to take all kids and pets on their summer trips. Numerous holidays were spent at Turtle Lake at Bekolay’s Beach. As a family, they then started travelling to Alberta and BC. Dad loved taking us to Barkerville and Fort Steele in BC. He loved the old time machinery at these attractions. Dad also looked forward to fishing trips with Terry, Kenny and Mom. After the kids were in their teens he bought a cabin at Cochin. Dad loved having the cabin so the family had a place to gather. They had numerous campfires and adventures at the lake. They sold the cabin in 1980, then started going to Vancouver to live there for the winter months and also many winters in Florida. Don loved tinkering in the garage and fixing up antique engines which he collected. He most of all loved the many family gatherings that everyone shared (birthdays, Easter and Christmas). We will miss you Dad, you were the best dad and grandfather anyone could have. – Love your family. At Don’s request, no funeral service will be held. Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
