Dorothy Kozak

March 6, 2018

Dorothy C. Kozak (nee Vogan)

1941 – 2018

After a brief illness, the family is sad to announce the passing of Dorothy “Dottie” on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Perry, and step-brother Leonard. She leaves two sisters Marie Young and Bev Lamers, four children Kim (Karen), Kory (Gail), Kurt (Kristina), Karla (Dean), grandchildren Michael (Dianna), Matthew (Zabrina), Tyler (Danielle), step-grandchildren Rhonda (Francis), Michael, Steven (Ali), Megan (Julian), father of  the children Eugene, great step-grandchildren Sienna and Sage, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dottie resided in Saskatoon, except for 10 years in Spiritwood, where she made many friends. Mom worked for Safeway as a cashier where she received several “employee of the month” awards. For over 30 years mom had a cottage at Meeting Lake where she enjoyed having big bon fires with family and friends. It was there that she’d babysit her grandchildren. Granny enrolled them all in swimming lessons.  She enjoyed watching them all grow up. Mom lived life to the fullest, playing bingo, bowling, Yahtzee, and traveling on bus tours. Mom wanted everyone to know that, “I’m a hugger, not a bugger, I love everyone.” At her request there will be no funeral. The family would like to thank all the health care professionals at all three hospitals in Saskatoon, Prairie Spring Care Home and the staff at Extendicare who took great care of Dottie. The Abilities Council provided her a wheelchair, thank-you. Every care worker will have a special place in our hearts for their compassion and care mom received. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society (1815 Lorne Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7H 1Y5). Arrangements in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
