CHRISTIANSEN, Earl Alfred
September 20, 1928 – September 29, 2019
Earl was born in Shellbrook, SK and raised on a farm near Canwood. He attended school at Summit Prairie School, Shellbrook High School and Prince Albert Collegiate. He received a BSA degree in Soil Science, a MSc in Geology at the University of Saskatchewan and a PhD in Geology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. From 1959 to 1977 Earl directed the groundwater geology program for the Saskatchewan Research Council. In 1977 Earl and Muriel established E.A. Christiansen Consulting Ltd. that provided the geologic framework for engineering, agriculture and groundwater work. He continued to advance the glacial stratigraphy of Saskatchewan and the protocols he established are now the accepted practice in that field. Earl was predeceased by his parents, sister Dagmar (Ted) Bowerman and brother Ken. He is survived by his wife Muriel, sister Florence (Harry) Fulton of Qualicum Beach, BC, sister-in-law Jean Christiansen of Canwood, SK, as well as nieces and nephews. As requested, there will be no funeral service. A reception will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
