ANDERSON, Gerald Robert
Gerald Robert Anderson was born on October 2, 1941 and passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital, in the presence of family members, on August 6, 2018. Jerry was born and raised on the family farm at Asquith, SK. Jerry left home at the age of 12 and began working for local farmers in the Asquith area, later gaining employment with the construction of the Gardiner Dam. Farming was always in Dads’ blood and he made it his goal to purchase the original family farm. Once he accomplished that goal, he continued to add to the farm until he grew it into the 1800 acres it is today, built up from nothing but his hard work. Dad worked hard every day of his life and worked full time at Moyers in Saskatoon during the day and fencing pastures on his farm at night. In the early 1970’s, when Moyers closed their doors, dad began farming full time, both grain farming and building a large cattle herd. Cattle were always his passion and he loved every minute of his cattle farming career. Dad was always compassionate towards all animals and even with his health declining and forcing him to sell his beloved cattle, he was able to still care for any animals that wandered onto his farm. Dad met, courted and then married Maryanne Levchenko, who was originally from the Sonningdale area. They were married for 41 years until Mom’s passing in December of 2005. Dad is survived by 2 sons, Stephen (Lana) and Colin (Debbie), as well as 4 grandchildren, Bailey (Dylan), Lane (Miquela), Austin (Sophia) and Ethan. Jerry passed away peacefully after a brief struggle with cancer, quietly and with great dignity, the same way that he lived his life. At Jerry’s request there will be no funeral service. Even though dad was a hard worker, he did find time to enjoy the sports his sons played and then later on, his grandchildren. He and mom loved to dance and he always enjoyed a good visit with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that each of you take the time to create a special family memory of your own.
