May 11, 2019

MITCHELMORE, Gerald Raymond “Gerry”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry Mitchelmore on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Gerry was predeceased by his daughter Tara, parents Nels and Annie, brothers Harold, Ron, Bill, Bobby and Wayne, and sisters-in-law Edith, Betty, Anne, Phyllis and Sharyn. Gerry will be deeply missed and survived by his loving wife Joyce of 68 years, daughters Debbie (Murray) and Judy. He was a loving Poppop who adored his 6 grandchildren Trevor (Connie), Greg (Deidre), Kris (Jen), Kurtis (Joanne), Brett (Nicole) and Amanda (Garrett), and 12 great-grandchildren Carson, Ryan, Kayla, MacKenzie, Jackson, Mya, Ava, Lucie, Michael, Leo, Lars and Hannah. Gerry worked at CN Rail for many years. He then worked at Redi-Mix Concrete until his early retirement. He started out as a concrete dispatcher in the early 60’s, then a concrete manager to a precast manager, retiring in accounts receivable/payable department. Gerry and Joyce enjoyed many winter vacations at Bill and Anne’s (brother and sister-in-law) home in Mesa, Arizona. They treasured these holidays and brought along all their beloved dogs on these trips. Gerry was very artistic and loved painting, scratch art, sand art and woodworking. He loved to make wooden benches, flower pots and wishing wells for family and friends. Every friend and family member can remember a project Gerry supervised or when he assisted in building decks, fences, painting walls or helping with garden and flower beds. He gave his time so generously to anyone needing help. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man to whom family and friends truly meant everything to him. Gerry was the best Santa helper and loved spreading Christmas joy to many, many children. Thank-you to Mystic Tie Lodge #213, those brethren who came to RUH to present a 50 years Certificate to Gerry. You can see in his eyes this meant the world to him. We would like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses at RUH Cardiac Care Unit for their care, compassion and guidance. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or to the SPCA, as Gerry loved animals. The Interment will be announced at a later date. Gerry (“Mitch” or “Big G”), you will be deeply missed by family and friends and all the lives you have touched. Rest in peace now, Gerry.
