SCILLEY, Gordon Allen

August 30, 1925 – September 12, 2018

 

Our family is saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Gordon on September 12, 2018 at St. Paul’s Hospital. He was born on August 30, 1925 in Aylesbury, SK. Gordon was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Ruth in March 2011. He was also predeceased by his parents and siblings. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving family, son Tim (Kathy) and step-grandchildren Marc (Jodie) and Karen; daughter Kim (Daryl) Cherry and special grandson Matthew (Kayla), precious great-grandson Bodhi and special granddaughter Alexis (Al). Gord is also survived by his sister-in-law Kay (Des) Fey of Saskatoon and sister-in-law Beverley Savage (Harry) of Burlington, ON; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gordon served as a private in World War II. He worked at SaskPower as a mechanical foreman for 34 years. He enjoyed coaching his children’s fastball teams. He was an avid 5 and 10 pin bowler. Upon retirement he took up woodworking and built several grandfather clocks. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, cooking, watching his grandchildren play hockey, baseball and soccer, and watching his beloved Blue Jays. Gordon had most recently resided at Prairie Springs Care Home and prior to that, the Franklin. A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor St.) in Saskatoon. At Gordon’s request, cremation will take place and the interment will take place at Avondale Cemetery, RM of Vanscoy, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 362 (3021 Louise St, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L1).
