Irene Kusch, age 89, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon.  Irene was predeceased by her parents, Lionel and Imelda Joanis; brother, Jim Joanis; sons-in-law, Larry Mitchell and Jim Peters; and husband, Dan Kusch.  Irene is survived by her daughters, Pat Mitchell and Sharon Peters, and sons, Larry Kusch (Sigrid Dahle) and Frank Kusch (Lisa Kusch) as well as loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and a large, extended family.  Irene was born June 27, 1928, on a farm near St. Denis, Saskatchewan, and was raised there along with her six siblings. She worked at St. Paul’s Hospital for a time before marrying Dan Kusch on October 17th, 1950, and moving to a farm near Domremy, Saskatchewan, where they farmed and raised a family.  She was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League in Saskatchewan, and for a period of time, served as its president. Later in life, she studied history at the University of Saskatchewan and worked in pastoral care at Saskatoon’s City Hospital.  Irene loved to travel; her journeys began before retirement and continued well after to many countries around the world. She loved history, ideas, laughter, nature, flowers, brandy, and Blue Jays baseball.  She is remembered with love and will be missed.  In celebration of her life, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral Parish (720 Spadina Crescent E., Saskatoon).  The Celebrant will be Fr.
