Leona “Darlene” Grant

It is with profound sadness that the family of Darlene Grant announces her passing at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Darlene was born in Regina, SK on April 17, 1939 to Constance and Leo Jaeger. She was the eldest of 4 children. She married the love of her life, George Grant and they moved to Saskatoon in 1966 and raised their five children. Together they owned/operated Grant Furs and Fashion Furs and finished her career at Tan Jay and Alia Ladies Wear. Darlene had to say goodbye to her love, George, when he passed away in February of 2012. In the following years an angel named Finn Pederson danced his way into her heart and became a very beloved member of the family. Darlene was predeceased by her husband George, her parents Constance and Leo Jaeger and beloved daughter-in-law Charlotte Grant. She will be greatly missed by her two sisters Myrna O’Brien, Judy (Ian) Cole; her brother Larry (Sandy) Jaeger; her devoted children, daughter Laurie Robinson, sons Gordon (Gaye-Lynn), Gary (Darlene), Glenn (Leona), and Geoff; grandchildren Chris (Marla), Sean, Kyle, Joshua (Amanda), Margaret-Anne, Haleigh, Kevin, Danielle, Dylan (Brandi), Jenna (Sevi), Sallee (Dylan), Savannah, Sydney; and great-grandchildren Sara, Kalli, Anna, Lily, Lucas, Walker, Lexi and Presley. Also left to mourn her is her extended family in Hungary. Darlene found her greatest joy in the love she had for her family. She is also lovingly remembered as a second mother to her children’s friends and always welcomed everyone into her home and heart. The family wishes to express our deep gratitude to Mike Richter and Lorna Bainbridge along with the amazing team of the ALS Society of Saskatchewan as well as our friend, Barb Bell. Your incredible compassion, guidance and advice, was so important to Darlene and the whole family as she made her way through her final chapter. Special thank-you as well to the many Doctors, Nurses, and professionals from RUH, Home Care, ALS Clinic at City Hospital and St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit. A Funeral Service for Darlene will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Windsor Chapel, Windsor St. and 8th Ave. N in Saskatoon, SK followed by the interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society of Saskatchewan (90 C Cavendish St, Regina, SK S4N 5G7).
