Heuchert, Marie Grace (LeNabat)

November 18, 1924 – January 30, 2019

Our beautiful matriarch passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Left to cherish all the great times with Mom are her children Mark (Karen), Murray (Janice), Michael (Mary Jane), Marsha (David), Marv (Karen), Michelle (Roy), Beatrice (Albert), Keith (Barb), and daughter-in-law Joyce. Her 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren will miss their Grandma dearly. Mom was a woman of strength and love. She adored her family and showed it on a daily basis. She was world famous for her chocolate chip and poppy seed cookies that she shipped from coast to coast, wherever her children happened to be. She never missed sending birthday and Christmas cards with a crisp five dollar bill in each one. The grandchildren especially lit up when they saw an envelope with Grandma’s handwriting. This loss will surely be a hit to the postal system. She loved family get-togethers, especially if there was dancing. She also loved playing Pinochle and would usually come out the victor, then act surprised. She was known as “The Ringer” at the croquet tournaments and everyone wanted Mom on their team. She often spoke of her younger years and being the pitcher on her ball team where she earned the nickname “The Blonde Bomber.” She cherished the memories of the family farm at Frank’s Lake and wished we were all still in the same place enjoying life. Mom never sought recognition for her achievements. She told us often, that was just life. She truly inspired her children to succeed despite very difficult times in the 60s and 70s. She not only taught us to survive, but to thrive. Her simple pleasures were setting jigsaw puzzles, reading the paper, mastering the crossword puzzles and word finds. She was a woman of little needs to ensure her family had all she could give. We would not be where we are in life if not for Mom’s love and devotion. We can never repay you, Mom, but we will make you proud as we continue your legacy. Mom was predeceased by her husband Otto; parents Bert and Fanny Hoogeveen; brothers and sisters-in-law Lennard (Yvonne) Hoogeveen, and Delmar (Delores) Hoogeveen; son Dale Heuchert; son-in-law Albert Finlay; grandson Matthew LeNabat, and many other family members and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church (1902 Munroe Ave. S.). Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan (1011 University Dr., Saskatoon, SK S7N 0K4). Mom lived for her kids and grandkids and would like to see that continue for other families. “Love you a whole bunch."
