Melford (Mel) Clarence Mason, age 60, of Saskatoon, SK passed peacefully on October 23, 2018, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. Mel was born to John Aubrey, and Hilda ‘Rusty’ Mason on September 12, 1958. He grew up on the family farm, east of Saskatoon, with his 4 brothers (Wayne, Keith, Calvin and Terry) and his sister (Fern). Mel settled nearby with his wife, Marina, with whom he spent 40 years, and to whom he was married for almost 37 years. Together they had two children, Morgan (Debbie) and Mariesa (Brodie), and raised many boys as their own, Josh, Brendan, Keiston, Adam and many more. Mel had a special connection with his many nieces and nephews, but will most fondly be remembered by his six grandchildren, Braydon, Taylee and Brielle (Morgan) and Leyton, Mason and Houston (Mariesa); who will forever refer to him as ‘Papa’. Mel worked ‘hard’ at the Department of Highways for most of his adult life. During his free time you could find him at the hockey rink, the lake or cheering on his grandchildren. Mel was passionate about many things; fixing his tractors, fishing, hockey, food, and most of all, his family. A Come and Go Celebration will be held at Sunset Estates Hall (Hwy. 5) on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring a written memory to be compiled for the family and all to enjoy and share. In lieu of flowers we ask that you spend it on your families, say a prayer for those around you and love those close to you. Arrangements in care of Chelsea Krentz – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
