Miles passed away peacefully at Royal University Hospital at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darlene; daughter Erin; brothers Albert (Fay), Vern (Marion), Eugene (Evelyn), Mark (Joy); David (Ann); sisters-in-law Evelyn, Janet and Yvonne (Jim) Serviss; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Mary (Roenspies) Buettner; brothers Alvin, Norbert and Leonard; sister-in-law Marion Buettner; mother and father-in-law Carl and Selma (Hanson) Erickson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Miles was born on July 22, 1948, the youngest of a family of 9 boys. He grew up in the St. James district, near Lake Lenore, and received his schooling at Leavenworth School and MUCC High School in Melfort. He worked at Robin Hood Flour Mills, starting in 1968 and retired in 2006. Miles enjoyed summertime at Candle Lake, camping, traveling, fishing with family and guys from work. He also enjoyed coffee row with his family and sitting on the front steps, talking to neighbours or waving to them as they drove by. Miles always looked forward to the Buettner Family Sauerkraut Festival. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association (2404 Thayer Ave. Saskatoon, SK S7L 6B4) or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9). A Vigil for Miles will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
