ENGELE, Murray Rudolph

1934 to 2019

Murray, age 84, beloved husband of Sheila, passed away peacefully at RUH on March 1, 2019. Born May 28, 1934 in Humboldt, he married Sheila Kelly in 1958, and they celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2018. Murray attended school in Carmel and St. Peter’s College at Muenster. He was occupied in the family farm equipment business in St. Benedict, until moving the family to Prince Albert in 1972, where he worked for the City of Prince Albert until retirement. In the following years, he was instrumental in guiding the expansion of Mont St. Joseph Care Home and had served as Chairman of the Board. Among his many interests were playing baseball, curling, woodworking, classical and opera music, golfing, fishing and time at Wakaw Lake. He could build or fix anything and frequently did. He led by example, teaching his children and grandchildren the importance of family, love of God and helping others. Murray was predeceased by his daughter Katherine (1976), his parents Salome (1997) and Richard (1975), and sister Mary-Ann Froese (2004). Along with Sheila, Murray is survived by: Eileen Pocha (Tim), Stacey (Jason), Taylor (Kris); Ruth Engele; Carmen Engele-Schaan (Ron), Laura, Grace; Emily Snyder (David), Maggie; Jim Engele, Holland and Anais. Thank you to all for the excellent care that was provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road).
