Nolan Patrick Royer

Nolan Patrick Royer, age 17, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. He was born on November, 26, 1999 in Saskatoon to Peter Royer and Jodie Lonsberry. Nolan grew up in Grasswood, SK. He was currently a Grade 12 student at Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon. Nolan loved and lived life to the fullest! He was always excited to share his excitement for his many adventures with family and friends. His love of nature, being active, and his dedication to leaving the electronic world behind led to his passion for biking, running, hiking, and camping of which he was happy to do alone or with people he cared about. Nolan’s involvement in Air Cadets and Army Cadets gave him the opportunity to travel across Canada to participate in summer long adventure camps involving mountain climbing, white water kayaking, hiking, and outdoor survival training. Nolan also joined the Cadet biathlon team, medaling at nationals in Quebec in 2017. Through cadets, Nolan was one of fifty cadets from across Canada selected to participate in PARA, a basic military paratrooper jump school in Trenton Ontario. He earned his wings and had the honor of being top cadet, which was the proudest moment of his life. Nolan’s creativity was expressed in painting, drawing, woodworking, and metal work, as well as playing piano, clarinet, drums, guitar, and bagpipes. In his spare time, Nolan loved to read. He excelled at everything he chose to be involved in. Nolan is loved and remembered by his parents Peter Royer and Jodie Lonsberry (Fred Slaferek) ; his siblings Dylan, Calvin (Rebecca), Austin (Tianna), Bailey, Noah and Josie-Leigh; step siblings Makar and Everton, maternal grandmothers Sandra Harvey and Nancy Lonsberry; paternal grandparents Leroy and Rina Royer; maternal aunts and uncles Acey (Sharon) Lonsberry, April (Wayne) Lonsberry, Travis Lonsberry, Lindy Lonsberry, Virginia Broadbent, Lonny Gelinas and Locky Gelinas; paternal uncles and aunts Mike (Lorraine) Royer, Bruce Royer (Sherry) and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Vernon Lonsberry. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Circle Drive Alliance Church (3035 Preston Ave. S.) in Saskatoon.
