FREHLICH, Peter

March 17, 1926 – September 2, 2018

Peter passed away in the arms of his family at the age of 92. He was born in Scott, SK to parents Nelson Frehlich and Christina Lang. Peter fell in love with Christina Hoffart and they were married on June 4, 1947. Together they raised 7 children; Ron (Elaine) Frehlich; Bernice (Gary) Kopp; Carolyn Schwab (Ron); Deborah (Lynn) Kurach; Cindy (Wayne) Scraba; Melinda (Dean) McLeod; and Stacie Christianson. He will be missed by 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is survived by his sister Anne Hoffart; brother-in-law Ed (Herbie) Hoffart; and sisters-in-law Alvina Shill, Ursula Hoffart and Marjorie Hoffart. Mom and Dad moved from Tramping Lake to Kerrobert in 1958. They built and operated the Wild Goose Esso and later the Wild Goose Motel. They moved back to Tramping Lake in 1964 to help his brother Joe operate Frehlich’s Garage, a family owned operation since the early 1940’s. The business closed in 1969 and Mom and Dad moved to Saskatoon where Dad operated Diamond Esso Service and later, Bay Park Esso. From 1972 and on, Dad tried his hand at many things. He hit the road with Wilson Auto Supplies (Bowes), later Snap-on Tools. He worked for Acklands for a number of years driving truck, delivering welding gas and supplies, while fabricating truck decks. He worked for Ens Industrial for a number of years, fabricating underground mine vehicles. Then back to Acklands installing and servicing Hoists until his retirement at 65. Mom and Dad took off in their camper van for over a month covering the east coast of Canada, US and across to the west coast, hitting every Casino they could find. Customers were constantly calling him to service hoists, so he purchased back his service van and tools and went back to work until retiring again at 70. They loved to travel, taking many trips to Hawaii and Maui. They visited many flea markets in Scottsdale and Watrous. This got Dad into the business of garage sales which he held every other week until they moved into Columbian Manor. Dad loved Bingo and hardly missed a day until he was 90. The family would like to thank Prairie Springs Care Home and Luther Care for the excellent care they gave Dad this past year. A Vigil for Peter will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018.
