HODGES, Ronald Keith

September 25 1939 - April 10 2017

Ron passed away peacefully in the morning hours of April 10. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Brenda (Ernie Brossart) and Joanne, grandsons Jordan (Nadine) Brossart and Luke Brossart. Ron is also survived by his brother Bill Hodges (Aurlie) of Regina, sister Jacqueline Blevins (Joseph) of Edmonton, and sister-in-law Marilyn of Saskatoon, as well as nieces and nephews, Lisa, Margot, Glen, Curtis, Nevin, Alex, Ellen, and their extended families. Ron was predeceased by his parents Harold and Edith, sister-in-law Sandra Heighes, brother-in-law Bill Heighes, and niece Margo.

Ron often spoke of his many memorable moments as a science teacher. He made lifelong connections teaching high school, first in Biggar, Saskatchewan, and then at Mount Royal, Evan Hardy, and Walter Murray Collegiate, retiring in 1998 after a 37 year career. He enjoyed coffee, conversation, and a good meal. He was creative, brilliant, and shared, with all who knew him well, a crazy sense of humour. Ron gave of his time freely, and over the years volunteered countless hours coaching and mentoring, generally helping out wherever he found need. He raised dogs, dabbled in home renovation projects, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and writing. Ron remained young at heart, riding his motorcycle with pride and joy until the age of 68.  He was a true rebel - regardless of the cause!

At Ron's request, there will be no funeral. He was truly appreciative of the sincere care provided at Circle Drive Special Care Home (CDSCH). Donations in Ron's memory can be made to Circle Drive Special Care Home, 3055 Preston Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK S7T1C3.  Arrangements in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306-978-5200).
