Sharon Husulak

Sharon Eileen Husulak, of Calgary, Alberta passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 71 years in Calgary, Alberta on October 19, 2017. She fought the cancer with grace, dignity and courage. Sharon was born September 20, 1946 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Peter and Agnes (Just) Husulak of Yorkton, the first grandchild in the Just family. She was brought up in Yorkton, SK to the age of 6 years, and then moved to Saskatoon, SK in 1952 with her parents when her father got transferred there with the CNR. Sharon took her elementary schooling at Mayfair School in Saskatoon, and then went to Bedford Road Collegiate. After graduation Sharon took her Medical Laboratory Technician training at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon – she graduated with her Medical Laboratory Technician degree in 1970.

In the 1970’s Sharon moved to Calgary, Alberta where she practiced her profession at the Foothills Hospital as well as some private clinics. She returned to the Foothills Hospital where she worked in the Health Records Department and remained in that position for 17years until 2014 when she retired. Sharon was a very hard worker and always gave 110 % of herself.

Sharon always had a love for animals. She had her horse Princess which she rode as often as she could, and she always had dogs. There were always dogs in the Husulak home in Saskatoon – Pekinese puppies by the names of Buttons and Twinkles – Twinkles was Sharon’s dog. Later on there was a Scottish Terrier named MayBelle, but by this time Sharon had moved to Calgary. Her home in Calgary in recent years contained four dogs, Koal, Bear, Sami and Tia, one Cockatoo by the name of Josh and two lovebirds. Sharon loved the outdoors and was a hiker and skier. Sharon has many friends that she did things with and who were there for her when she became ill.

Sharon was a loving daughter and friend, and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family, relatives and friends. Sharon was predeceased by her father Peter Husulak, her grandparents Martin and Hulda Just and Henry and Anastasia Husulak, as well as many other family members. She is survived by Agnes Husulak, her beloved mother, as well as by numerous other relatives. A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mayfair United Church, 902 – 33rd St. W., Saskatoon, SK with Rev. David Moors officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to the Saskatoon SPCA, 5028 Clarence Ave. S., Saskatoon, SK  S7T 1A7.
