DEGELMAN, Alan George

Alan was born November 29, 1934 to Leopold and Margaret Lang. After he was done school he farmed with his dad. In the winters he worked in Ontario, then at Degelman Industry’s. Alan married Elaine (nee Shobe) on November 4, 1967. They had 4 children: David (Marianne) Degelman, Kellie Degelman (Mark Ladner), Kimberly (Scott) Klein and Marc Degelman (Shannon Stoffel); 8 grandchildren Kyler, Kolten, Beriah, Melina, Reese, Archer, Spencer and Arden; and one great-grandchild Otto-leigh. Alan was very active. He loved curling, golfing and skiing. He was a long time Elk’s member. He was a social butterfly and loved being with people. You were always welcome and would either be offered a coffee, a drink or both. Alan had the gift of gab. He was the only person who could fall asleep while playing cards and would always know what card to play when awakened. The last 30 years he farmed with his sons. Alan passed away on March 30, 2021 at the Pasqua Hospital after a fight with cancer. He will be missed! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish in Raymore or to a charity of the donor’s choice. A Celebration of Alan’s Life will be held at a later date. My Heartfelt condolences to Elaine and the entire Degelman family to the passing of Alan Degelman.   My grandfather iwas Andrew Degelman and my mom was Elsie Kuffner(Degelman).  My mom would take me on occasion to visit the farm and we would stay at Lee and Margarets place.  Over the years I would meet with Alan and it was always good to see him.  He was a good person to know and I always enjoyed seeing and talking with him.  I will miss him and the farm a great deal.
