Eileen Godbout

Eileen Godbout, devoted wife of Clem Godbout, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her immediate family on Friday, March 20, 2020 at age 76. Eileen, nee Martian, is also survived by her daughters Dionne Melrose (Colin), Genelle Hamoline (Paul); four grandchildren Gracie, Oakley, Nolan, Rio; her sister Merna Martian-Campbell; and brothers- and sisters- in law Rosalie Martian, Al and Claudette Godbout, Sylvia Godbout and their families. She will be remembered by her extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and some very dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ted and Annie (Scharbach) Martian, her brother Don and other brothers- and sisters-in-law. Eileen was born and raised in Allan, Saskatchewan and moved to Saskatoon as a young adult where she attended secretarial college and began work at St. Paul’s Hospital. She then moved on to City Hall where she worked for an extended period of time. She married Clem and shortly after they welcomed “the girls.”  Eileen was a very warm person who enthusiastically created a beautiful home for her family. Spring found her in the garden, planting and tending to the flowers and vegetable garden. Fall brought a pantry full of delicious preserves, canned specialties and a freezer ready for the winter. A visit with Eileen was always filled with a lot of hospitality, amazing food and every detail was attended to. Nothing brought her more joy than being with her family, especially the grandchildren. Eileen was a very faith-filled person with tremendous devotion. Due to the special circumstances of the time, a celebration of her life will be need to be held at a later date when community can come together again. A private Mass for immediate family was held on Sunday, March 22, 2020 celebrated by Rev. Father Emile April who was Eileen’s nephew.
