Obituary

Esther Anne Ford (nee Oshanek)

1937 - 2020

Esther died at her home after a four-year battle with cancer on December 28, 2020. She was 83 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents George and Annie, along with numerous siblings. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband William “Bill” who died in 2005. She is survived by her children Del and Krista; step-grandchildren Carrie, Michael and Erin (Rob); step-great-grandchildren Shea-Lyn, Jaxon, Nixon and Haven; grandchildren Arden (Tracy) and Jared (Michelle) and great-grandson Emmitt. Esther is also survived by the father of her grandchildren, David. Mom trained as an RPN (Registered Psychiatric Nurse) at the now defunct hospital in Weyburn, SK along with Dad. After they left Weyburn, she worked at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, the Ministry of Social Services, McKerracher Center and at the Saskatoon Community Clinic. She earned a reputation as being a compassionate nurse who went ‘beyond the call of duty’. Mom made many friendships over the years through work, social activities and the time that her and Dad spent at Little Bear Lake. Mom loved to host family and friends and she was a fabulous cook. She truly missed such opportunities as her health declined. She will be greatly missed. There will be an opportunity for a viewing at Mourning Glory Funeral Services (1201 8th Street East) from 5:15 - 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 8th.
