Vavrik, Gerald Francis

Gerald Francis Vavrik, a loving husband to Tracie and father to Abigail, Mathew, Amber, and Scott sadly passed unexpectantly in Saskatoon on May 30, 2021 at the age of 58. Born April 12, 1963, Gerald and his sister Lynn became a welcome addition to Anne & (predeceased) Stan in 1968. Raised on their farm, Gerald known to most as Gerry, went to Elementary school in Dodsland and finished high school in Plenty. He graduated in 1981 before moving to Rosetown to work at Co-Op Lumber until moving to Moose Jaw and becoming an Electrical Engineer. In the 80s, he found a passion for both electronics and music pursuing a side-career as a DJ, which continued on for the whole of his life. In 2000, Gerald became a loving dedicated parent to Abigail. In 2011 he married his soulmate Tracie, adding her three children with single grandchild (Ana) to his life.

Following a life-threatening accident earlier in 2005, Gerald shifted his interests to woodworking, home renovations, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed music, people, and helping anyone in need. Gerald’s passions were entertaining and supporting others. Whether it was DJing large weddings or hosting a small BBQ, he loved to set up music equipment, lights, and treat everyone to their favourite songs. It is with sad hearts we say goodbye but we all know, like in life, Gerald is looking down on us all and will be there for us always. A service & celebration of life will be held later this year. Arrangements in care of Travis Minor – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.

My heart is with Lynn and your Mom, your family and friends. I’ll always remember you Gerry - you and Kevin being kind and welcoming to me - including me in many recesses together, cross country skiing with you and Lynn, and five years ago when you phoned me to catch-up:chat about life & DJing just before our 35th high school reunion. You said “do you know who this is? It’s Gerald…” and we talked for an hour -picked up right where we left off, natural and enthusiastic and easy - as two kids who grew up in a small town together. Rest easy.

Sincere condolences to his loved ones. ❤️

I knew Gerry as we went to the same elementary and high school.

Gerry was such a kind and gentle soul.

May he rest in Peace.

I am so sorry to hear about this.  You were always so genuine and a great man. I was so glad to have met you. I remember the first meet, you sharing your home decked out with lights, sound system and everything anyone could ask for.  You always seemed so caring, and always had a smile and great laugh when I saw you. Love to your family.

Good bye my friend. I will miss you the rest of my days. I will always remember our early school days and how you stuck with me as a friend, the many backroads we explored, our many years as room mates and the many reno projects we worked on together. I hope I was as good a friend to you as you were for me.
You had an understanding caring heart, and an innocent mischievous side that was fun. Prayers to Gerald and his family from ours.
