It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jake Willms on February 5, 2020. Jake was born to Maria and John Willms on the family farm near Dundurn on February 18, 1925. After high school Jake attended Canadian Bible College in Regina where he met the love of his life, Bernice Taylor, who grew up in Edmonton, AB where they were married on June 16, 1949. Fresh out of the ministry, the young couple took care of three of the area’s churches, Hawarden, Glenside and a church they helped to construct in Elbow. When John and Mary decided to retire, Jake and Bernice returned home and took over the family farm. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Bernice of 70 years, sisters, Mary (Ken Olson, deceased) of Spiritwood, SK, Rose (Henry Schmidt) of Saskatoon and Helen (Milton Gill) of British Columbia; 3 children, Jud (Betty) Willms, Dan (Bonnie) Willms, and Sherri (Earl) Hueser; six grandchildren, Tom (Tina) Willms of Dundurn, Jason (Melissa) Hueser of Sarasota, FL, Jennifer (Lyle) Dombrowsky of Dundurn, Bryan (Tracey) Willms of Dundurn, Adam (Candis) Hueser of Warman and Angie (Rick) Prokosch of Saskatoon and 14 great grandchildren. Jake was predeceased by his parents, John and Maria Willms, his step father JJ Willms, and siblings Tony, Albert, John, Harry, Ted and Paul. Jake had a great love of the land, nature and the farm, but his greatest love of all was his family, a man of God, and a man of steadfast faith. Jake was an incredible role model to his family and was loved and respected by everyone he met. Jake will be missed so very much. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Dr.) in Saskatoon, SK. Officiating will be Pastor Elaine Presnell.
