AMICO, John Giovanni

With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of John “Giovanni” Amico on July 28, 2020 at Royal University Hospital (Non-Covid). With his family at his side, he was welcomed into heaven, at the age of 68. He was born on August 27, 1951 in Potenza, Italy and immigrated to Saskatoon with his family in 1965 at the age of 14. He will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife, Carmela of 42 years; and three sons, Luciano (Kristin) and grandchildren Nicholas, Luke and Isabella of Ontario; Angelo; and Vito-Carlo; brother Michael (Jeannette) and family; sister Maria (Tony) Racano and family of Kelowna, BC; sister-in-law Josie (Mario) Raimondi of Winnipeg; and brother-in-law Salvatore Pellettieri and his family of Winnipeg; as well as many other extended family and close friends in Canada and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents Carmela and Giacomo. In 1977 he married the love of his life, Carmela Pellettieri and they had 3 wonderful boys. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was very devoted to his family. He was a hard-working man from a young age throughout his life to the end. He was an entrepreneur, businessman and a baker at Express Bakery, which they owned, for 22 years and a self-taught handyman. He could fix almost anything and was willing to lend a hand to anyone. He loved visiting with family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6938 for many years and volunteered many hours. John was a man of few words with an infectious smile. He will be missed by all. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
