Obituary

Marcel, Strobbe

September 5, 1924 - February 6, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marcel Strobbe announces his passing on February 6, 2021 at the age of 96. Marcel was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lorine. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Kevin (Sharon), Mark, Bart, Ken and Allyson (Doug), as well as grandchildren: Brittany (John), Kaitlin (Cory), Don (Shannon), Dane (Michelle), Danielle (Filipe) and great grandchildren: Michael, Addison, Madison, Jackson, Patrick, Oliver, Connor, Charlotte and Zoe. Dad was great at many things - husband, parent, friend, company, storyteller, gardener. What he excelled at were the many aspects of parenting - from infants through the terrible teens of adolescence and the challenges of adulthood. Dad could always be relied on to be there in person or by phone. He excelled as a caregiver, doing whatever was needed to provide the essentials of life and nurture family growth. He excelled as a teacher instilling the values of love, honesty, integrity and loyalty and was always willing to share his knowledge and skills, patiently answering endless questions and accepting different points of view while keeping an open mind. He excelled as both a coach and a referee, inspiring each of us to do our best and better ourselves and always believing in our capabilities and dreams. Peacekeeping in a household of 4 boys and 1 girl was a challenge that he managed to master as we all not only survived but thrived! We are all grateful for his long life and many years of support and the unspoken assurance of his faith that everything would be okay. We will miss Dad's quiet strength, wise counsel, long talks, unique sense of humor and gardening expertise. However we should also take comfort knowing that he is resting peacefully in the best garden of all in the Kingdom of Heaven. The family thanks all the healthcare professionals who have supported Marcel recently both at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Ontario and the Saskatoon City Hospital Convalescence Unit, especially his wonderful nurse Michelle. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021 with live-streaming available at: www.faithproductions.ca/livestream  He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers we would invite donations in Marcel's memory to be made to the Regional Cardiac Program, Heart Function Clinic at Southlake Regional Health Centre at ( https://give.southlake.ca/site/Donation2;jsessionid=00000000.app262a?idb=699544864&DONATION_LEVEL_ID_SELECTED=1&df_id=3103&mfc_pref=T&3103.donation=form1&NONCE_TOKEN=48F598B744E76C3E55EAB668F896ED7A&idb=0) or the charity of your choice.  or the charity of your choice.
