HALLSON, Norman Paul

May 26, 1935 - February 10, 2020

It is with profound sadness we say goodbye to Norman Paul Hallson, who passed away at the age of 84. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Violet, his three sons, Geoffrey (Audrey), Richard (Lynn) and Dale (Karey), as well as his sister Linda. Along with being a wonderful and caring father, Norm was a beloved Afi to Jennifer (Scott), Kate, and Eric. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Mary, father Paul, and brother Ken. Norm was born in Winnipeg on May 26, 1935, to a proud Icelandic clan. He spent his youth helping out at the family grocery store on Ellice Avenue. He started his career as a teacher and was the first principal of Kelwood Collegiate in Manitoba. He then moved into sales and management. He retired from Clark Roofing at the age of 75 as an estimator in 2011, a role he thoroughly enjoyed, and was a valued mentor to younger co-workers. Norm enjoyed nothing more than being with his family in his backyard. He was a passionate gardener, grill master, and croquet and bocce kingpin. A round of golf always brought a smile. He was as involved as he could be in his sons’ sports, whether it was on the coaching staff, as a volunteer board member, or being the sole parent cheering from the sideline. Geoff, Richard, and Dale knew Dad always had their backs. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Royal University Hospital that took such good care of Norm in his final days. A celebration of Norm’s life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal University Hospital Foundation (103 Hospital Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8).
