STRANDEN, Norman Scott
March 1, 1954 – January 4, 2021
Norm died from heart and diabetic complications. Norm grew up in Hanley, SK and spent most of his life there. He had many jobs, mostly with the Operators Union Local 955 out of Edmonton, AB near Fort McMurray. His hobbies included sketching and rebuilding 1/16 scale toy tractors. He also belonged to the Saskatoon 567 club. Norm was proud of his light blue 55 Chev convertible that won trophies at the Rod and Custom Car Show and the Saskatoon downtown Show and Shine. Over the years Norm had many cars including a “Starsky and Hatch” Torino and a “Smoky and the Bandit” Trans Am.
Norm was predeceased by his father, Thelmer in 1991 and his mother Gladys in 1966 when Norm was 12 years old. This early loss of his mother created a lifelong struggle for Norm. He was also predeceased by his older bother Barry in 2016.
His is survived by two brothers, Brian (Patty) and Neil (Glenda), his sister Noreen (Ron Loerzel), nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Irving and Shirley Opdahl for their caregiving and mentoring of Norm over the years.
Thank-you to Central Haven Special Care Home where Norm resided since 2016. A Graveside Service will be held at the Hanley Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements in care of Ashley Knash – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
